Whether you’re the host or a guest, hummus is the perfect dip for the holidays. And let’s face it, the holidays are right around the corner. Thanksgiving is exactly four weeks from today! Yikes!
Therefore, as a big fan of hummus for it’s ease and versatility, I’ve compiled “5 Hummus Recipes for the Holidays” so you can choose the perfect flavor combination for your holiday feast. Just click on each recipe link below for a complete list of ingredients and directions.
First on the list is Basic Hummus Without Tahini. This is a tahini-free version of classic hummus, made of chickpeas, garlic, cumin, paprika, lemon juice and olive oil. This dip tastes great with pita chips, crackers and fresh veggies.
Up next, we have Avocado Hummus. This is Greg’s favorite hummus I have made to date. I say that because I have so many more ideas. 🙂 In the meantime, this avocado hummus is made with chickpeas, avocado, cilantro, garlic, hot sauce, cayenne pepper, salt, lime juice and olive oil. This dip pairs perfectly with tortilla chips.
Along the same lines as the avocado hummus is the Cannellini Bean and Avocado Hummus, which I’ve nicknamed “MexItali” hummus. Instead of chickpeas, this hummus is made with cannellini beans, avocado, garlic, parsley, lemon juice, salt, hot sauce and olive oil and is garnished with crushed red pepper flakes. This dip is delicious with pita chips, carrots, pretzels and tortilla chips.
Now for one of my favorites – White Bean Dip or as I call it, Italian Hummus. I love this dip because it is made with my favorite cheese, Pecorino Romano. This hummus also features cannellini beans, lemon juice, lemon zest, garlic, parsley, rosemary, salt and olive oil. It pairs nicely with a glass of Pinot Grigio. Oh, wait you need something to dip into it. 🙂 Try it with some pretzels, fresh vegetables, pita chips or crackers.
And last but not least, we have the ultimate holiday hummus – Pumpkin Pie Hummus! Not only does this hummus mimic the flavor of pumpkin pie, but it’s topped with cinnamon sugar toasted pecans. This delicious dip is made with chickpeas, pumpkin, brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt and sunflower oil. It tastes amazing with graham crackers or salty pretzels.
I hope you’ll try one of these hummus recipes for your next holiday party. And be sure check back soon for some more delicious hummus creations! Here’s to the holidays!
These all look beautiful and very tasty, but I would dive straight into the avocado dip first – sounds fabulous.
