You might be saying to yourself, “What on earth is a shakeuccino?” Weeeell, I’m glad you asked! So let’s start with the facts of how the “shakeuccino” came to be: First, I love milkshakes (and any sort of ice cream creation but that’s beside the point). Secondly, I love icy cold Frappuccinos® from Starbucks and any blended frozen coffee drink for that matter (mostly because they contain caffeine). I also really, really love cookies and cream flavored ANYTHING!
Therefore, it was no surprise when I was over the moon the day I walked into my favorite convenience store (which is very popular here in NJ) to pick up lunch one summer day and discovered the most divine creation on the menu. I was scanning through the store’s computerized ordering system when I stumbled upon a section for “frozen cappuccinos.” Then I saw the one! Cookies and cream! Ahhhh….heaven! Needless to say, I absolutely fell in love with this sweet caffeinated concoction last summer and found myself repeatedly frequenting the convenience store where it was sold to satisfy my craving.
Then I thought, “I should really recreate this drink at home.” And as many things go in the land of working 40+ hours a week at my day job plus taking care of two little kids (and one big one), sometimes you just get a little forgetful.
Summer came and went and when Christmas was upon us, Greg and I received a Nutri Ninja Auto iQ from my parents. I have used it to make a bunch of healthy drinks, including a smoothie with frozen berries, bananas and Greek yogurt as well as one with a simple combination of carrot, orange and apple. In all seriousness, this is the best blender I’ve ever owned. The power this machine has to blend vegetables and fruits into a perfect consistency is truly amazing.
So, on one recent cold, wintry day, my supervisor and another co-worker brought me a surprise. Can you guess what it was? You got it! It was the cookies and cream frozen drink! And even though it was colder outside than the actual drink, I was ecstatic to sip the creamy deliciousness.
About halfway through my brain freeze, I remembered the plan. “You’re supposed to make this at home, silly,” the voice in my head reminded me. Then the cold really went to my head and I thought, “this would be really good as a cross between a milkshake and a Frappuccino®.”
That’s when I decided to use my Nutri Ninja for evil instead of the good for which it was intended. I knew it had enough power to perfectly blend this creation. All I can say is the result was ABSOLUTELY AWESOME! This Cookies and Cream Shakeuccino is especially amazing topped with whipped cream and cookie crumbles. Ahhh…creamy, dreamy, MAGICAL!
