Equipment

Ingredients

  • 1 slice bread (GF if needed)
  • ½ avocado
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon hot sauce (plus more if desired)
  • fine sea salt to taste

Instructions

  • Toast bread to your liking.
  • Scoop the avocado flesh into a small bowl and mash with a fork. Spread the mashed avocado onto the piece of toast.
  • Place the egg in a pot and cover with water until fully submerged. Add a pinch of salt and bring to a boil. Once boiling, cover and turn off the heat. Leave the egg to sit in the hot water in the covered pot for 6-10 minutes (6 minutes for soft boiled, 8 minutes for medium boiled and 10 minutes for hard boiled). Once the time is up, carefully transfer the egg to an ice bath. This will stop the cooking process and allow you to handle the egg without it being too hot. Peel and slice into circles.
  • Add the sliced egg to the avocado-topped toast. Top with hot sauce. Sprinkle on salt.

Notes

Avocado toast is best enjoyed upon preparation. It does not store or keep well.
