Dahi Toast (Spiced Yogurt Toast)

Ingredients

  • 2 slices Bread White Bread or Sourdough Bread
  • ¼ cup Yogurt Full Fat or Low Fat
  • ¼ teaspoon Pepper
  • ¼ cup Onion finely chopped
  • ¼ teaspoon Chili flakes
  • ¼ teaspoon Chili powder Substitute Paprika if needed
  • 1 tablespoon Butter Substitute Vegan Butter or Olive Oil if needed.
  • ½ teaspoon Everything Bagel Seasoning
  • ¼ teaspoon Turmeric
  • ¼ cup Cilantro finely chopped

Instructions

  • Heat 1 tablespoon oil or butter in a small saucepan over low heat until warm and melted (if butter). Add in the everything bagel seasoning until they start to crackle (10-15 seconds). Remove from heat.

  • Once the everything bagel seasoning is removed from heat, add the seasoning into the yogurt along with the remaining ingredients.

  • Mix together all the ingredients to form a yogurt batter: everything bagel seasoning, onion, yogurt, cilantro, black pepper, and chili powder, chili flakes and turmeric in a small bowl; season with salt.

  • Spread yogurt mixture evenly on both sides of the bread slices.
    Grease the pan with butter or oil. Pan fry on medium heat for 3-5 minutes on each side until slightly crispy and golden brown.

  • Remove from pan and allow for the toast to cool for 2-3 minutes. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

Add additional salt for taste

Top Tips

  • Spread Mix Evenly: Spread the yogurt mixture evenly across the bread slice; too much on one side and not enough on the other side can cause the toast to cook unevenly.
  • Make Ahead of Time: You can save even more time by making the yogurt mix ahead of time. Store in fridge for 1-2 days. Take out the yogurt mix 15-30 minutes ahead of time before making the toast.
