Maple Glaze in Microwave (Easy Vegan Maple Icing)

This easy recipe for maple glaze only takes 5 minutes with a handful of ingredients. Best of all, this simple vegan maple icing can be made in the microwave for all your baked goods such as cookies, cakes, donuts and even french toast!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoon vegan butter softened
  • 2 tablespoon maple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoon unsweetened almond milk or any plant-based milk, as needed

Instructions

  • Mix in your maple syrup with softened butter and warm it up in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. Set it aside and let it cool.

  • In a mixing bowl, mix together the powdered sugar and the melted maple butter syrup. Add in vanilla extract and 1-2 tablespoon of almond milk (slightly warmed) to help thin out the maple glaze.

  • Once the mixture forms into glaze like consistency, pour in your glaze on the baked goods and let them set for about 15-30 minutes. Serve and Enjoy!

Top Tips for Success

Tip 1: Let the butter soften or come to room temperature before mixing in the maple syrup. This will help mix properly and avoid overheating the maple syrup in the microwave.
Tip 2: Let the butter and maple mix cool for a few minutes before mixing it in with the powdered sugar. Pouring the hot mixture might create clumps in the mixture. If you find the glaze getting too clumpy or hard, add in 1-2 tablespoon of milk to thin out the glaze to the consistency of your liking.
Tip 3: Do not boil the butter and maple syrup in the microwave. You just want the butter to melt and not heat up the syrup so much that it starts to cook and crystalize.
