Having maple glaze on hand is like keeping a little jar of magic in your pantry— ready to turn any ordinary dish into a confectionary showstopper with just a drizzle!

If you like to bake often, you'll want to have this recipe on this hand especially for the holidays! I make a big batch of this and use it on most of my baked items like my maple pecan cookies, oven roasted maple pecans, and vegan donuts.

It's easy, takes 5 minutes and only requires a handful of ingredients. Check it out and happy baking!

    Ingredients for Maple Glaze

For this recipe, you will need:

Powdered Sugar – also known as confectioners' sugar or icing sugar.

Vegan Butter – Miyoko's or Violife plant based butters are great options to use. Regular salted butter also works great in this recipe.

Pure Maple Syrup – This is what gives the glaze the maple flavor. Use your finest maple syrup to enhance your flavor!

Unsweetened Almond Milk (or any Plant Based Milk) - This will help thin out the glaze if it's too thick. You can also use regular milk if you prefer.

Vanilla Extract - For enhanced flavor. For a strong maple flavor, substitute for maple extract instead.

    Equipment Needed

All you need is a mixing bowl, a whisk and a microwave for this recipe.

    Step-by-Step Instructions

This recipe comes together in 2 easy steps:

(Full recipe and quantities given in the recipe card below.)

Step 1: First, mix in your maple syrup with softened butter and warm it up in the microwave for 20-30 seconds. Set it aside and let it cool.

Step 2: In a mixing bowl, mix together the powdered sugar and the melted maple butter syrup. Add in vanilla extract and 1-2 tablespoon of almond milk (slightly warmed) to help thin out the maple glaze.

Pour in your glaze on the baked goods and let them set for about 15-30 minutes. Serve and Enjoy!

    Top Tips for Success

Tip 1: Let the butter soften or come to room temperature before mixing in the maple syrup. This will help mix properly and avoid overheating the maple syrup in the microwave.

Tip 2: Let the butter and maple mix cool for a few minutes before mixing it in with the powdered sugar. Pouring the hot mixture might create clumps in the mixture. If you find the glaze getting too clumpy or hard, add in 1-2 tablespoon of milk to thin out the glaze to the consistency of your liking.

Tip 3: Do not boil the butter and maple syrup in the microwave. You just want the butter to melt and not heat up the syrup so much that it starts to cook and crystalize.

What to Serve Maple Glaze With

Maple glaze tastes amazing on top of most sweet dishes you can think of such as this dairy free pumpkin bread (a great fall pairing!) or vegan donuts. You can also use it as glaze on truffles such as these pumpkin pie truffles (perfect for thanksgiving!) or sugar cookie truffles.
