Why you'll love this recipe

- Minimal waste: You can reuse some of the left over pulp as a DIY face mask or use juice pulp in baking!

Taste and Texture
Taste: This recipe has a sweet and tart taste with hints of ginger. The taste mostly comes from the apples and pomegranate. The beetroot taste is pretty mild, and blends into the stronger flavors of the other fruits.
Texture: If you prefer no pulp what so ever, use the juicer if possible. Using the strainer is not as effective to strain out all the pulp, so there will be some coarseness in the drink. You can also use a cheesecloth to drain out any excess pulp to adjust per your taste.
Ingredients for this ABC Juice Recipe
Apples: You can use any variety of apple depending on your taste preferences. I typically use a granny smith apple in this recipe because I prefer a bit of a tart flavor to my juice. I find that it balances out the sweetness of the juice well.
If you prefer your juice to be a bit on the sweeter side, you can try using a a gala or red delicious instead.
Beets: This recipe uses a small beetroot; cut and peeled. Raw beets have a more intense flavor than cooked beets. If you want a less intense flavor, you can boil the beets in hot water for a few minutes. Allow them to cool before blending them into the juice.
Carrots: This recipe calls for 2 medium sized carrots. Chop them up into bite sized pieces before putting them into your juicer or blender.
Ginger: Ginger has a particularly strong flavor. You can use anywhere from ½ inch to 1 inch piece of fresh ginger depending on how intense you like the flavor to be.
Pomegranate Juice: If you like your juice to have a bit more tart flavor, you can use ⅓ cup of pomegranate juice to supplement this drink. In this recipe i'm using POM juice, which can be found in most grocery stores.
Step by Step Instructions
Step 1. Chop up your fruits and veggies
Step 2. Add them all into the blender or juicer. Add in the cold water and blend till you get the juicy consistency. You can adjust the amount of cold water depending on how concentrated you like your juice to be
Step 3. Strain the pulp if you are using a blender. I'm using a tea strainer here, but a nut milk bag will work to get the job done.
How to Re-Use Leftover Pulp
I'm a big fan of minimizing waste and this recipe is perfect to reuse left over pulp. One of my favorite benefits of ABC fruit juice is that you don't need to throw out the pulp - it contains plenty of antioxidants and vitamins and can work great as a DIY face mask or mix it in baking!
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes, the pulp is edible as well and contains a ton of fiber. However, adding in the pulp makes the drink a bit coarse and hard to drink. Highly recommend using the pulp either in baking or creating a face mask instead! Our pumpkin muffins would be a great option to reuse some of this pulp to add in more fiber.
Seal it in an airtight container and store it in the fridge for another 24 hours! After that the juice starts to lose its freshness. Because it's so easy to make and only takes a few minutes, I recommend making the juice as needed.
If you want to store the juice for a longer period of time, try freezing it in an ice tray for some ABC popsicles!
Since it's called the ABC (Apple Beetroot Carrot) juice, it's best if the juice consists of these main ingredients. However, you can swap out apple for a pear or pineapple.
Adding pomegranate is entirely optional. If you prefer to have a zesty kick, try adding in some oranges or lemon juice to the mix
