Freshly baked Air Fryer Frozen Biscuits are a simple and tasty delight! I tested three different biscuit brands to find the best one for air frying. Skip the hassle of making biscuits from scratch and enjoy flaky, buttery biscuits straight from frozen with your air fryer!
Why Air Fry Frozen Biscuits?
There is nothing like freshly baked biscuits that melt in your mouth. While I like making homemade biscuits like this vegan almond flour biscuits, I sometimes don't have all the ingredients needed when I want to make them.
But I've recently found a hack to save both time and energy - frozen biscuits! Frozen biscuits sometimes don't have the same taste as homemade ones, but if made right, they come very close.
Best part of all, you can make these frozen biscuits in the air fryer! They take less effort than making them in the oven and bake faster! A win-win in my book!
Best Brands of Frozen Biscuits for Air Fryer
I've made Pillsbury Grands, Mason Dixie, and Cappello's Almond Flour Biscuits (Gluten-Free) in the Air Fryer.
Not all brands are created equal when made in the air fryer. Cappello's Almond Flour Biscuits taste the best in the air fryer (tastes even better than when you make them in the oven!). They are also more flaky and buttery compared to the other brands and work best in the air fryer. I've found this brand sold mostly at Whole Foods and Sprouts.
Pillsbury Grands Biscuits also work well in the air fryer, and there is not much of a variation from the oven recipe to the air fryer recipe. A quick and convenient option as this is the most commonly sold brand in grocery stores.
Mason Dixie Biscuits, however do not turn out the best in the air fryer. If you are using this brand, your best bet is to make these in the oven. I also found that these biscuits did not rise as much in the air fryer when compared to the oven version.
How to Make Frozen Biscuits in Air Fryer
To Make Cappello's Biscuits:
- Preheat your air fryer to 325°F for 2-3 minutes before placing your biscuits in.
- Place the biscuits evenly spaced across the basket (or tray if you are using an air fryer oven). Leave at least 1-2 inches of space between the biscuits so they have room to expand.
- Air Fry for 18-20 minutes. Flip halfway (at the 9-10 minute mark) so the all sides cook evenly across.
Note: See recipe notes for air fryer temperatures and times on the other brands such as Pillsbury Grands and Mason Dixie Biscuits.
Tips for Best Results
- Pre-heat your air fryer for 2-3 minutes so that the air fryer is hot when you place these biscuits in. This helps cook your biscuits evenly.
- Space out the biscuits at least 2 inches apart. Biscuits tend to expand in size slightly when you place them in the air fryer. Cook in batches if needed depending on the size of your air fryer
- Flip your biscuits half way through so that they cook evenly across both sides.
- Add in any butter or toppings after the biscuits are done. Helps minimize the grease and cleanup in the air fryer!
FAQs
No, butter is not needed. If you want to butter your biscuits, add them after they are done in the air fryer so there is less mess to clean up in the air fryer!
You can tell once the biscuits are done when they are golden brown and crispy on the outside, but flaky and fluffy on the inside.
Butter, jam or jelly taste amazing with these biscuits. For extra flavor, try adding herb or garlic butter. You can also drizzle in some maple glaze and make this a sweet treat.
What to Pair with Biscuits
While you can have these as a snack anytime, pair this with a protein source like eggs or tofu to make it a balanced meal. Here are some suggestions that make epic breakfast ideas when paired with these frozen biscuits.
